Opening day at Fort Calhoun Elementary School is always fun. For years, Marti Leishman and Kim Szlachetka have dressed in costume to illustrate an opening day theme, and this year the entire school got into the act. A group of third through sixth grade teachers and the PE and reading teacher arrived at school in a fishing boat looking for a promising “school” of students. In addition to the teachers
wearing and carrying fishing gear, signs throughout the building carried out the “hooked on learning:” theme. Have a great year, Fort Calhoun!
